David Heyes Claimed on "illegal" Website

Many of you may not know, but Ashton-under-Lyne MP, David Heyes has a website located here. David claimed the £1838.88 cost as part of his Communications Allowance in 2008.

However the site has been left untouched since its inception with the news and press releases pages going empty. Despite the waste of money, the site breaches several rules in the "The Communications Allowance and the use of House stationery" rule book which can be read on from page 25:

7. You must not use your website:

• to encourage people to join a particular political party.
• to publish or promote any publication, unless it meets the rules.

8. In order to maintain a clear distinction between your website, which is financed from public funds, and any other domain, you must make a clear distinction between your site and any site to which links are provided. You may do this by taking users through a page that confirms they are leaving your website, or by requiring them to acknowledge it through a pop-up form.

Linking to the Labour Party homepage - a political site which encourages people to join and donate to the Labour Party as well as attacking other parties is in breach of the rules above. None of the links on the links page give any warning that you are leaving the website.

20. The use of party logos should be restricted to proportionate and discrete use.

As you can see in the header of the website, the Labour Rose features quite prominently throughout the site.

I am told that David Heyes could of paid for a website himself from the Labour Party for just £250 a year. This is used by neighboring MPs James Purnell and Andrew Gwynne. This would of allowed him to have published whatever political content he wanted along with the Labour Party logo as well as saving the taxpayer money.

Roy Oldham's Downfall

Roy Oldham's Downfall
Uploaded by TamesideEye. - Up-to-the minute news videos.

The gossip on the grapevine is that Councillor Kieran Quinn is gathering momentum to replace Councillor Roy Oldham as the leader of Tameside Council after the local elections.

Kieran has rostered up support by moving in on Roy Oldham's constituency with the Hyde Newton Labour branch announcing their opposition to Cllr. Oldham at a recent branch meeting. Interestingly this ward is where his late wife was a councillor.

But what is more interesting is that the Tameside Co-Operative Party are also backing Kieran Quinn. The treasurer of the group is no other than Councillor Sean Parker-Perry and the secretary is Councillor Jonny Reynolds - both councillors in the Longdendale ward shared with Roy Oldham.

The plot thickens...

TMBC Turning on Taxpayers

You may have read the MEN today you would of seen this article about Lisa Harris from Stalybridge where bin men from Tameside Council refused to empty her bins because she was wearing a Liverpool shirt. Not satisfied with that they continue to shout a torrent of abuse saying "I hate Scousers. I bet you don’t even work" and "I batter Scousers". Nice.

And remember the Facebook fan page against Tameside Council? When we reported the success of the group earlier in the week, it only had 284 fans and has now snowballed to 310 supporters. It has caused one of Tameside Council's gritting team to go on and vent abuse at the members:

I can see that Tameside Council's PR department are now running around after a massive PR blitz in the local press with a double page propaganda spread on what Tameside Council is doing in the bad weather, despite it appearing to be doing naff all.

I do find it disgraceful that Tameside Council staff show very little respect to their employers... The council taxpayers of Tameside.

Update: If you think Tameside Council did a good job of gritting then join this group. It should be noted that the creator of the group who accused people of complaining on another group of being "wankers" and bleated on about having to do a 16 hour shift, is going to be getting more than enough overtime according to his wife who will be spending it on a holiday & spends. It can't be that bad after all!

Tameside Council Are F*cking Useless

There is a Facebook fan page which was formed on the 5th of January 2010 named "Tameside Council Are F*cking Useless". The group has quickly gained 284 fans.

Compare this to Tameside Council's very own Facebook fan page which was set up on the 6th of March 2009 and has only 105 fans.

Exclusive: The Day After Tomorrow... No Grit!

You would think that looking outside looks like something from the movie the day after tomorrow given the immense snow and freezing temperatures we have been facing. And it would seem that there is more to come.

People have been complaining over Christmas that roads have gone ungritted and gritters are driving around for show. One user of the Consumer Action Group forum did a revealing post about the state of gritting in Tameside:

"My mate's lad (23), is on one the gritting teams when it's needed, he told me earlier today that Tameside Council have known about this bad weather for well over a week but have no grit and no money to buy any.. Result..... Even our major roads in Tameside at this moment are virtually impassable and dangerous.."

So based on that it would assume that Tameside Council can afford to throw away £50,000 of taxpayers' money at a hospital in Kenya, but not be able to buy in any grit for the roads. This did cause Tameside Council to go into a PR overdrive with a dedicated page spinning the situation and a 60 Second News item virtually dedicated to it.

I have been told by a reliable source that Tameside Council only have 80 tonnes of grit left. Now having a look at these minutes (item 23), 80 tonnes would indicate that Tameside only has 1 days worth of grit left - 2 at a stretch.

Tameside Council are saying that they can't buy anymore grit as the government is allocating how much they can have. Only main roads are being gritted tonight and grit bins are not being refilled.
